[THE INVESTOR] Biometric sensor developer
CrucialTec said Aug. 17 that it has completed the development of iris scanning modules and plans to mass produce the products next year.
Having cooperated with optical technology firm Micro Actuator to develop the iris scanning module late last year, CrucialTec has recently approached its prospective corporate customers in recent months, the company said.
A smartphone camera fitted with CrucialTec’s biometric module could alternate between being a camera for selfies and an iris scanner for user identification.
CrucialTech is said to be in talks with domestic and global smartphone companies to supply the iris scanning modules as early as the first half next year.
“The company will try to cater to the needs of its customer for both the finger scanning and iris scanning technologies,” a CrucialTech official said.
