A submarine blast during repair works killed one and injured two, while one remains missing as of Tuesday afternoon at a naval port in Jinjae, South Gyeongsang Province, military officials said.
The explosion of the small submarine occurred at around 8:30 a.m. while it was undergoing repairs, the officials said.

One of the two injured is in critical condition. The missing official reportedly fell into the sea from the impact of the blast, they said. All the casualties were commissioned officers.
The military said the unit operating the submarine in question were investigating the cause of the incident and searching for the missing officer.
