Daelim Group, one of the nation’s major builders, is eager to pay back what it gained from business to society through various corporate social responsibility programs, group officials said Thursday.

For this, the conglomerate is focusing on helping the underprivileged in society, fostering young talent and even protecting the environment.

In particular, the group‘s construction unit Daelim Industrial has been running a charity program for 20 years to help those in financial difficulties to afford cultural activities.

Every year the company invites 400 students in collaboration with its own art gallery and offer opportunities to enjoy the cutting-edge art pieces.

Employees of Daelim Industrial have also participated in voluntary activities including refurbishing or remodeling houses in slums so that the residents can live in a better living environment.

They also have remodeled facilities for wheelchair users to help them move in a more convenient way, providing second-handed computers to them.

Daelim spares no costs on supporting young talent. Daelim Suam Foundation was established in 1989 to fund talented university students to focus on academic achievements and research.

Daelim is also dedicated to cleaning up the environment. Employees are allocated to local areas to clean the districts regularly. Those in Seoul occasionally go to Mt. Namsan in central Seoul to pick up trash.

“Daelim’s company motto is to make a society a pleasant place for everyone. We would like to continuously carry this on,” an official said.
