[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Electronics is expected to release the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 with a 64-gigabyte internal storage capacity only, ditching its existing marketing strategy of offering two storage options.

According to industry sources, Samsung has decided to do so considering the latest trend of bigger smartphone storage as mobile users are increasingly enjoying multimedia functions, including high-resolution photos and videos.

Its predecessor Galaxy Note 5 came with 32GB and 64GB memory options.

Along with the enhanced capacity, the new Note phablet is expected to be fitted with a 12-megapixel dual-lens rear camera, 5M front-facing camera and an iris sensor for unlocking the device.

In order to smoothly run all the up-to-date sensors, chips, and mobile applications without a glitch, either Snapdragon 823 or Samsung’s own Exynos Octa 8 chip, the top-of-the-line mobile application processor chips developed respectively by Qualcomm and Samsung, will likely be featured on the phone.

The latest news for the larger internal memory of the Note 7 came after Apple reportedly decided to ditch the 16GB model of its upcoming iPhone 7, expected to be released in September, and roll out the smartphone with a storage capacity starting from 32GB.

Samsung is scheduled to hold an unveiling event in New York City on Aug. 2, and similar events simultaneously in London and Brazil.
