[THE INVESTOR] The Korea International Trade Association plans to establish a new venue for global events and exhibitions in Seoul and foster 500,000 small, promising companies by 2030, the umbrella economic organization said Sunday.

“We will push for setting up a global-level complex for MICE -- meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions -- in Jamsil, Seoul,” said Kim In-ho, a chairman of KITA, at an event to mark the 70th anniversary in Seoul.

“We also plan to provide one-stop trading consulting services and upgrade the association’s services,” he added.

The association said it will participate in the government-led project to turn Jamsil Sports Complex areas into a global MICE center.

The trade organization expects that the Jamsil project will create synergy with its World Trade Center Seoul -- Coex -- in Samseong-dong.

KITA said it also plans to foster 500,000 small companies, single entrepreneurs and start-ups by 2030.
