THE INVESTOR] New York-based fast-casual burger chain Shake Shack is set to open its first Korean outlet near Gangnam, southern Seoul, on July 22, its Korean licensee SPC Group (vice president
Hur Jin-soo) announced.
The American burger chain’s local expansion kicked off last year after inking an exclusive contract with SPC, operator of bakery chain Paris Baguette.
“Shake Shack’s Gangnam branch will deliver its signature menus just like how it’s served in the US,” an SPC spokesperson said.
Shake Shack was first launched in 2001 by restaurant magnate Danny Meyer as a food cart within Madison Square Park, New York. Its growing popularity elevated the company’s status in the food industry and in 2014 it made its IPO debut on New York Stock Exchange.
SPC is currently promoting its upcoming launch with an interactive event at the store’s construction site next to Sinnonhyeon Station, Subway Line No.9.
