AccorHotels Group aims to run 27 hotels in Korea by 2019

[THE INVESTOR] AccorHotels Group is planning to expand its South Korean network to 27 hotels by 2019, according to the company’s executive overseeing Asia operations on June 30.

Patrick Basset, Chief Operating Officer for Upper Southeast and Northeast Asia of AccorHotels, said in a press conference that the group is erecting a cluster of four hotels in the Yongsan area by the latter half of 2017. The combined number of guest rooms at these four will reach up to 1,700 -- the largest for any cluster of hotels in the country.

Further, as of July 1, it will open Ibis Ambassador Seoul in the downtown shopping district Dongdaemun, and Ibis Ambassador Busan. Designed to attract Chinese tourists, the hotel is a in a 24-storey building including four basement level floors. It houses 242 guest rooms.

Excluding the four to be built, AccorHotels now runs a total of 19 hotels in six major cities including Seoul, Busan and Daegu.
