Saudi Aramco-invested S-Oil, the nation’s third-largest oil refiner, has sought sustainable growth by running a variety of corporate social responsibility programs on a long-term basis.

The firm company has run its “sharing” programs with three targets for protection -- environment, heroes and local community -- for the past decade.

The oil refiner said its most famous CSR program is the firefighter hero support program. Since 2006, the company has run CSR programs to boost morale of firefighters and help stabilize their living conditions.

The flagship CSR program for firefighters is the “best award for a hero firefighter.” Recommended by the Ministry of Public Safety and Security, the company awards firefighters who have made outstanding achievements in their work every year with cash donations.

Other CSR programs targeting firefighters include support of the families of fallen firefighters, scholarships for children of fallen firefighters and donations to injured firefighters.

Besides the hero protection program, S-Oil also has invested in an array of CSR programs to protect the environment and local community as well.

For contribution to environment protection, the company runs programs focusing on clean and bright natural heritage. It continues to strengthen cultural activities to build community relations.

“As a foreign-invested company, S-Oil will continue to bolster its socially responsible activities for sustainable growth in Korea,” a company official said.
