LG tops front-load washer sales in U.S.

LG Electronics has topped front-load washer sales in the U.S. in the first quarter, paving the way for it to grab the No. 1 position in the all-important market for the 10th consecutive year.

According to market research firm Stevenson Company, LG recorded a 26.4 percent market share in the first three months of this year. In the $900-plus premium category, it also topped the list with a 34.2 percent share.

Since topping the list first in 2007, the Korean tech giant has continued to be the best-selling brand in the front-load washing machine market in the U.S.

Especially its latest Twin Wash, the industry’s first dual-load washing machine that debuted late last year, is leading the company’s sales overall.

The company said it has exceeded its sales target for the model, but declined to reveal specific numbers.

LG is beefing up marketing activities in the U.S., setting up separate sales booths at major retailers such as Lowe’s and Sears.

The company said it plans to launch a new luxury washing machine under its LG Signature brand in the first half of this year. The washer will feature the company’s Centum System that has improved energy efficiency, but reduced noise.
