American bands Weezer and Panic! at the Disco will be headline acts at the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival this year, performing alongside big names in the Korean indie scene such as the Koxx and Peppertones.

On Tuesday, the festival’s website announced the first lineup of bands slated to appear at the event, which is one of Korea’s largest annual rock festivals. It will take place from Aug. 12-14.

The first lineup features six bands, including Korean indie band We Are The Night and rising English alternative band Nothing But Thieves, which festival officials say is this year’s must-see act.

American band Weezer, known for hits like “Say it Ain’t So,” debuted in 1992 and is scheduled to release its 10th album on April 1. Pop-rock band Panic! at the Disco rose to international stardom with its 2005 song “I Write Sins Not Tragedies.”

The Koxx is heralded as Korea’s first electro-garage band, while Peppertones have gained a following for their bouncy tunes.

The festival will take place at the 200,000-square-meter Penta Park, built in 2013 exclusively for the event.

A total of 3,000 early bird tickets -- offered at a 25 percent discount -- sold out five minutes after they went on sale at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a post on the festival’s Facebook page.

Regular three-day tickets will be available later at 220,000 won ($190) from ticket.interpark.com or ticket.yes24.com.

A second lineup of more artists will be announced in late April.

The annual festival has featured a total of some 1,100 groups and musicians and attracted more than 60,000 festival-goers since its launch in 2006. It is in its 11th installment this year.
