The prices of chicken and beer in Korea are relatively cheaper than other countries, said local reports on Monday.

The market price of a 500 ml-bottle of locally produced beer is $1.69, considerably lower than those sold in the Maldives and United Arab Emirates where it costs $7.19 and $6.63, respectively. These figures are from a recent survey by numbeo.com, a crowdsourced database of the prices of goods around the world.

Korean beer ranks 40th in terms of market price around the world. Germany has the cheapest beer at $0.94. The study surveyed food prices in 118 countries and listed the absolute price difference in U.S. dollars without reflecting differences in income level.

The price of chicken breasts is also low in Korea at $7.17 per 1 kilogram, ranking 30th on the price list.

Fruit and vegetables in Korea, however, are more expensive than other countries. Bananas in Korea cost $3.27 per kilogram, second highest in the world. Apples are also pricey, at $5.74 per kilogram, third highest worldwide.
