AMCHAM delegation to visit Washington for Korea promotion

A delegation of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea plans to visit Washington D.C. next week to meet government officials and politicians to stress the importance of South Korea as an economic partner.

The delegation includes James Kim, AMCHAM chairman and CEO of GM Korea, AMCHAM president John Schuldt, United Airlines country manager David Ruch, attorney Jeffrey Jones, Johnson & Johnson Medical Korea chief Swami Raote, and GE Korea adviser Choi In-bom.

They plan to attend around 30 meetings involving senior officials and policymakers from the White House, U.S Trade Representative, Federal Trade Commission, U.S. Cabinet departments, including the Department of State, Department of Commerce, Department of Treasury, and research institutes.

During the meetings, the delegation is expected to promote the Korean business environment and discuss the government’s latest efforts to improve national competitiveness through deregulation and labor reform. They will also talk about how to foster a transparent and predictable business environment to improve foreign direct investment. The delegates will also showcase the benefits and success stories of the Korea-U.S. free trade agreement.

James Kim, AMCHAM chairman, said, “The trip this year is especially timely and significant with the U.S. presidential election season in full motion.”
