Bekei Korea launches Klavuu cosmetics brand

Bekei Korea, a cosmetics company specializing in developing pearl-based items, has launched South Korea’s first pearl cosmetics brand Klavuu.

Klavuu has introduced a new skin care lineup, including toners, serums, eye creams and facial creams, as well as a cleansing product lineup based on conchiolin, a protein found in pearls known to improve skin quality.

All of Klavuu’s products are infused with natural minerals and proteins found in high-quality, natural pearls as well as various marine plants harvested from the oceans of Wando County, South Jeolla Province, Bekei Korea said.

“We focused on maximizing the therapeutic effects of pearls in our products, made with top-quality local ingredients,” said Beikei Korea chief executive Kim Hyun-bae.

Iittala, Issey Miyake launch new home collection

Iittala, a Scandinavian tableware and cookware design company, has joined hands with Japanese fashion brand Issey Miyake to launch a new collaborative home collection.

The Iittala X Issey Miyake collection includes a range of high-quality ceramics, glass and home textiles which combine Scandinavian design with Asian craftsmanship, according to Iittala.

The two brands spent some four years developing the collection, which combines ceramics with fabric materials to deliver a motif of “flower blossoms.”

McDonald’s to sell limited-edition Olympics burger

McDonald’s will sell a limited-edition burger in South Korea starting this Friday until Mar. 30, in celebration of the Rio 2016 Olympics set to kick off this summer.

The Ricotta Cheese Shanghai Burger aims to add a touch of Italy to its bestseller menu -- the McSpicy Shanghai Burger as part of McDonald’s ongoing “Meet the tastes of the world” campaign.

Starting with the new burger, McDonald’s Korea plans to actively carry out diverse forms of Olympics promotion campaigns, including a free tour bus service from Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province and Daejeon to McDonald’s stores in the area.

The Ricotta Cheese Shanghai Burger is priced at 5,200 won for the burger only and 6,300 won for the set menu. Discounts are offered during McLunch hours from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Uniqlo launches new wireless bra lineup

Uniqlo has launched a new lineup of wireless bras -- the “Beauty Light” Wireless Bra -- based on its original wireless bra products.

“Beauty Light” wireless bras boast a smoother, seamless design which provides users with improved support and more comfortable fit.

The bra’s design keeps the undergarment hidden under clothes, which is particularly suitable when worn under thin clothing that reveals a woman’s figure, according to Uniqlo.

There are also no stiches in the inner side of the bra which touches the skin, for extra comfort.

The new bra is available in three styles -- plain, heather and lace -- and under 16 colors.

Uniqlo has also introduced a “Hiphugger Mashback” version of its women’s ultraseamless shorts. All products are available at Uniqlo stores nationwide and www.uniqlo.com


Davi launches white vanilla crystal cosmetics collection

Davi, a premium cosmetics brand sold locally by LG Household & Health Care, has launched a new product collection based on white vanilla crystal extracts, known for their ability to clarify the skin.

Davi’s Ideal White Vanilla Crystal collection, consisting of five skin care products, is made of pure vanilla extracts taken from Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla flowers.

The products are also based on rosemary extracts, known for revitalizing and retaining the moisture of the skin, enabling a natural glow when continually applied, according to Davi.

The collection includes an essence, spot care product, sunblock, skin peeling gel and facial cleanser. Prices range from 38,000 won to 85,000 won.


Coca-Cola launches special photo-engrained editions

Coca-Cola has launched three types of special photo-engrained 500ml bottled coke products in South Korea in celebration of its new global campaign -- “taste the feeling.”

The three photos each depict a person enjoying a coke inside of a stylish vehicle, a person drinking a bottle of coke on the day of the season’s first snow and a woman holding a bundle of coke bottles while dismissing the men around her.

These special bottled Coca-Cola products are available at major supermarkets nationwide and online shopping malls for 1,480 won per 500ml bottle, according to Coca-Cola.

“We hope consumers can ‘taste the feeling’ in accordance with their preferences and lifestyles when choosing one of our new photo-engrained coke bottles,” said a Coca-Cola Korea official.


Malltail expands shopping recommendation service

Malltail, South Korea’s biggest international shipping assistance company, has begun operating a new form of customized shopping recommendation service to its users.

Operated by Koreacenter.com, Malltail provides users with a free local shipping address in the U.S. and select foreign countries to which users can send their goods. After the items arrive at its warehouse, the company ships the items to a user’s address in Korea.

Malltail’s new shopping recommendation service shows users potential items they can buy in addition to their confirmed purchases within the duty-free purchase limit ($200 or $150 depending on the item).

Users tend to buy overseas goods worth around $120 to $140, because they often cannot find other items priced at a level that the total purchase remains within the tax-free limit, Malltail said in explaining the purpose of its new service.

“The service seeks to help consumers enjoy as much tax benefit as possible when making a single purchase overseas, saving shipping costs,” the firm said.
