Fans of ’70s pop music will soon have a chance to indulge their nostalgia as stars Olivia Newton-John and Tom Jones are set to hold concerts in Korea at Seoul Olympic Park in May and April, respectively.
It has taken a long time for both musicians to return to Korea -- 16 and 33 years, respectively, for Newton-John and Jones.
Olivia Newton-John (Official Facebook)
Newton-John, a four-time Grammy award-winner recording five No. 1 and ten other Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 singles, will perform old favorites and hits including “Physical,” “Magic,” “I Honestly Love You” and “Have You Never Been Mellow.” According to the production company in charge of the Korea concerts, World Show Market, the singer is drawing up the music list herself to cater to local fans.
Tom Jones (Live Nation Korea)
Jones will perform a wide range of songs spanning his 50-year music career. A big band will accompany him onstage. The concert is expected to showcase the artist’s numerous hits, including “Delilah,” known here for the Korean version by Jo Young-nam, “Green Green Grass of Home,” “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again” and “What’s New Pussycat.”
Newton-John’s concerts will take place at Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastic Stadium on May 14 and KBS Busan Hall on May 15. Tickets range from 77,000 won ($64) to 165,000 won and can be reserved at ticket.interpark.com, ticket.yes24.com or ticket.auction.co.kr starting Friday.
