BERLIN/SEOUL -- South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics will showcase its state-of-the-art electronics products from wearables to TV at the IFA electronics trade show, set to kick off Friday in Germany.

The tech firm said it would focus on introducing its electronic devices and home appliances that can be interconnected at this year’s trade show.

“The Internet of Things is not just a technical trend, but a wave of changes that would cause a paradigm shift in the entire industry,” said Hong Won-pyo, the chief of Samsung’s global marketing division, at a news conference on Thursday, the day before the kickoff of the electronics trade show.

Samsung will exclusively use the CityCube Berlin, an 8,730-square-meter building located at the trade show venue in Berlin.

Among Samsung’s new products to be displayed at the exhibition center are sleep monitoring device Sleep Sense, smartwatch Samsung Gear S2, and the firm’s latest phablets -- the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, which were unveiled last month.

The Sleep Sense, the tech firm’s first sleep-tracking gadget that allows users to monitor their sleep patterns, heat rate and respiratory rate, is expected to receive the limelight during the show.

Samsung will also unveil the long-awaited Gear S2, featuring a round face and the world’s first rotating bezel, which lets users initiate smartwatch functions by turning it clockwise or counterclockwise.

As at past IFA shows, Samsung will collaborate with luxury carmaker BMW to show off its capabilities in connected-car technology.

The German carmaker’s electric vehicle i3 will be displayed at the exhibition venue, where visitors can try out Samsung’s smart solutions that link smartphones and smartwatches with the electric car.

Visitors can have a virtual-reality test drive with the i3 and Samsung’s virtual-reality glasses, the Gear VR.

With Volkswagen, Samsung will showcase a solution featured on the Gear S2 that controls vehicles’ air conditioners and help users to find the locations of their cars.

Samsung will also showcase its latest SUHD TVs -- 41 units in total -- as well as up-to-date audio systems and its built-in kitchen appliance lineup Chef Collection.
