Celebrating the 70th anniversary of National Liberation Day, Hana Bank and Korea Exchange Bank will present solid gold birthday rings to babies whose first birthday is on Aug. 15.

Parents with babies born on Aug. 15 last year may enjoy the benefit by joining the “Daehan Minguk Manse” deposit and savings plan in the name of their baby, officials said.

The financial product, named after the three models of the Hana Financial Group, has been launched to pay respect to the nation’s liberation from colonial rule and commemorate deceased independence patriots. The minimum monthly deposit is 20,000 won ($18).

The 99.9 percent pure gold rings, sponsored by the Korea Gold Exchange, is to be delivered in a special ring case, along with a bankbook that includes a congratulatory message.

Also, the two banks will contribute 815 won for each of the corresponding accounts to supporting the families of deceased patriots and preserving the historic sites related to independence movements, according to officials.

The ring giveaway will be available until July 31 and customers may pick up their rings at the bank office where they subscribed for the deposit, starting from Aug. 10.
