South Korea’s leading wireless carrier SK Telecom launched a lifeware brand, United Object, Monday, aiming to increase its footing in the burgeoning market for the Internet of Things, a network that connects objects.
The branding came amid SKT’s ongoing efforts to beef up its business for smart devices and wearables, including a wearable band for kids, and a smart air quality monitoring device.
“With the new lifeware brand United Object, SKT will try to bring positive changes to customers’ daily lives and become a user-friendly brand which customers can trust,” said Park Chul-soon, head of the firm’s convergence business unit, in a press release.
The telecom firm introduced the pico projector Smart Beam Laser, the first product branded with the UO.
The pico projector featuring a high-definition picture quality has received a positive market response since it was unveiled at global electronics and mobile trade shows, including International CES and Mobile World Congress, earlier this year.
The HD-class cubic projector measuring 5.5 centimeters in size and weighing 195 grams fits for both indoors and outdoors.
The No.1 mobile carrier in Korea joined hands with Korean projector manufacturer Cremotech to develop the new beam projector.
