Legendary American jazz pianists Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock will make their way to Korea in May to stage a joint performance at this year’s edition of Seoul Jazz Festival, organizers announced Thursday.

The two legends will be performing a piano duet in Seoul as part of their world concert tour. It has been 37 years since Corea and Hancock last toured together ― the last time being back in 1978.

“Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock are top-notch jazz artists. Their music has stood the test of time,” said Private Curve, the festival organizer.

The two are recognized as one of the most influential names in the global jazz music scene. Both have a stellar Grammy Award-winning record, with Corea having won the Grammy’s 20 times and Hancock 14 times.

Other artists scheduled to perform at this year’s SJF include bossa nova artist Sergio Mendes, jazz saxophonist Gregory Porter, American singer MIKA, singer Robert Glasper, Tamia, known for her hit single “Officially Missing You,” and Wouter Hamel, a popular Dutch Jazz artist.

A number of Korean artists including Epik High and Jang Ki-ha and the Faces will take the stage at the upcoming festival as well.

Seoul Jazz Festival 2015 will be held at Olympic Park on May 23-25. A three-day pass is priced at 287,000 won and can be purchased through Interpark. For more details, visit www.seouljazz.co.kr or call 02) 563-0595.
