Lotte Group apologized Wednesday for the recent death of a construction worker at its newly-opened high-rise shopping complex, which led to the operational suspension of part of the facilities.
"We bow in apology for causing (safety) worries to citizens due to the series of recent accidents including the construction worker's death near the concert hall," Lee Won-woo, CEO of Lotte Corporation, said at a news conference.

The apology came a day after the 58-year-old worker was found dead at the construction site of Lotte World Mall in the posh southern Jamsil district.
Lotte has recently opened the finished lower floors of the 123-story skyscraper to the public while continuing construction work in the upper part.
Tuesday's accident, coupled with a water leak recently found in an aquarium, prompted the metropolitan city of Seoul to suspend operations of the troubled-aquarium and a movie hall. The city also ordered the suspension of construction work at a concert hall, where the worker was found dead. (Yonhap)
