Samsung Electronics’ next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6, will sport a “dual-edge” display, according to an analyst.
“The Galaxy S6 to be released next year will feature a ‘dual-edged’ screen which is curved on the right and left sides,” said Jerry Kang, senior analyst of IHD Technology, at the IHS Display Analyst Conference Thursday.
The company had been well aware of possible complaints about the curved display featured only on the right hand side of the Galaxy Note Edge before the release of the phablet, but the tech giant ditched the plan for the dual edges at the last minute for an unknown reason, according to the analyst.

Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest smartphone producer, released the Galaxy Note Edge last month while coping with sluggish smartphone sales. Many market experts cite lack of innovation as the main reason why Samsung has lost steam in the smartphone business.
The mobile business of the tech giant posted 1.75 trillion won ($1.6 billion) in operating profit in the third quarter of this year, down by 2.67 trillion won, or 60 percent, compared to the same period last year.
“The dual edge is expected to be beneficial for Samsung Display, the main display supplier for the smartphone-maker, as larger displays bring more profit,” he said.
