Sungmin, a member of K-pop boy band Super Junior, confirmed Tuesday that he will marry actress Kim Sa-eun in December, hours after Kim denied news reports about their betrothal.
Sungmin himself announced his plan to marry Kim on Super Junior’s official homepage, apologizing to his fans for the fact that they had first heard the news through the news reports.

“I met a good woman and will marry her on Dec. 13. I am heartbroken that you might have been perplexed and surprised about the news,” Sungmin wrote on the website.
“The news went viral while I was thinking about how to tell you, E.L.F, my precious friends and those who love me. I wanted to let you know myself. I am really sorry that you had to find out about it through the reports.
“I had to discreetly think about my decision and struggle by myself as I feared that those I should be thankful for would be too shocked or hurt by such news,” he added.
Sungmin expressed his appreciation to his supportive fans. He also thanked his bandmates and his label SM Entertainment for respecting his decision.
A representative from Kim’s agency also confirmed the reports and said that the couple had already met one another’s parents for marriage arrangements.
Earlier in the day, local media outlets reported that the two would tie the knot on Dec. 13 at the luxurious wedding hall The Raum in southern Seoul.
The two first met as costars in the musical “The Three Musketeers” late last year. Their friendship evolved into a romance, and they made their relationship public in late September.
The 28-year-old idol said he will continue to pursue activities as a member of Super Junior even after marriage.
Super Junior is gearing up for the two-day concert “Super Show in Tokyo” to be held in Tokyo, Japan from Oct. 29. The band released the seventh studio album “MAMACITA” in August.
