Jin Jong-oh, a three-time Olympic shooting champion, will headline the South Korean delegation in the final tune-up event ahead of the upcoming Asian Games.
Jin and 63 other South Korean shooters will take part in the International Shooting Sport Federation World Shooting Championships in Granada, Spain, starting on Saturday.
For the South Koreans, the quadrennial event will be the last competition before the Asian Games, which will take place in the western port city of Incheon from Sept. 19-Oct. 4.
The shooting portion of the Asian Games will get underway on Sept. 20.
Jin, who has won three gold and two silver medals in his three Olympic appearances, is chasing his first individual gold medal at the world championships, which are held every four years.
He won a gold in the men’s 50-meter pistol team event and added two silvers in the 10-meter air pistol and the 10-meter air pistol team event at the previous world championships in Munich.
The 34-year-old is scheduled to return to South Korea on Sept. 14, six days before the 50-meter pistol event at the Asian Games. (Yonhap)
