Police confirmed Friday that the man committing lewd behavior in public last week is the former chief of the prosecution office on the southern island of Jeju, citing analysis of footage from security cameras.
Kim Soo-chang, a 52-year-old former chief of the Jeju District Prosecutors' Office, is being investigated by police on suspicion of masturbating in public near his residence on the resort island on Aug. 12.

The National Institute for Scientific Investigation, the forensics arm of the police, conclusively identified the sexual offender as Kim after analyzing eight security cameras near the scene, police said.
Kim committed sexual misconduct five times, more than initially suggested, police officers said, citing footage from the security cameras.
Kim, who has pleaded his innocence, stepped down from his position on Monday. He claimed that he was mistaken for someone else. (Yonhap)
