K-pop girl group f(x) has made a long-awaited return to the local music scene, equipped with fresh electro-pop sounds and eclectic musical styles.
The five girls of f(x) ― Victoria, Krystal, Amber, Sulli and Luna ― officially released their new 11-track studio album “Red Light” on Monday, with the eponymous title track “Red Light” immediately climbing up to the top of local music charts.

The lead single “Red Light” is a funky electro-pop tune that opens with a rap-like chant which builds up to the invigorating synth-pop chorus, infused with digital blips. Its music video, released last Wednesday, has accumulated over 4 million views on YouTube so far.
The rest of the tracks touch on various music genres including dance, electronic, rock, pop and even fusion country.
“Summer Lover,” which was partially written by Amber, features refreshing guitar sounds and bright melodies, while “Vacance” captures the excitement that comes along every vacation season. “MILK” is a bouncy tune in line with f(x)’s signature rhythmic musical style.
“Rainbow,” “Boom Bang Boom” and “Spit It Out” are more upbeat dance tracks that fuse electronic sounds with hip-hop beats. “All Night” reveals the group’s harmonious vocals while “Butterfly” delivers a dreamlike tune and alluring lyrics.
“Dracula,” which has darker sonic undertones, seeks to portray the fictional character “Dracula” with sinister and anxious colors while “Paper Heart” fuses country sounds with a pop approach.
f(x) is slated to deliver live performances of “Red Light” and other songs from the album on various music programs in the coming weeks.
