As the death toll from the ferry accident continues to rise day by day, veteran composer Yoon Il-sang has written a requiem for the victims.

“I dedicate this song to the Sewol victims who have passed away ... I pray that they will be happy in the afterlife,” Yoon Il-sang wrote on his Twitter page on Wednesday after unveiling the elegy on his SoundCloud account.

“Take Care,” a calm and doleful piano composition, was written, arranged and played by the composer himself.

“It was difficult to work on because I could not stop thinking of the children who must have desperately clung to life until the end. I hope that the song can act as a consoling companion as they leave,” Yoon posted on his SoundCloud page. “I am sorry that I can only do so much,” he said.

Yoon Il-sang is a renowned local composer who has written and produced songs for various singers including Lee Eun-mi, Kim Gun-mo, Kim Bum-su, Lee Seung-chul and Lee Moon-sae.

The requiem is available online through Yoon’s SoundCloud at /ilsangyoon.
