KT, the nation’s second-largest telecom company, is providing diverse telecommunications services at a discounted price for its users to better enjoy KT’s Internet and voice call services.

KT said for two months starting in March it will offer free Internet data and a smart set-top box for those who subscribe to “Olleh Internet” and “Olleh TV.”

Customers who sign on for a three-year contract with Olleh Internet will automatically receive a three-month free Internet trial service.

Those who sign up for Olleh TV for three years will receive a smart set-top box for free. The smart set-top box enables users to enjoy smart TV functions without having to actually buy a smart television.

Further, subscribers of both Olleh Internet and TV can buy a 42-inch LG Cinema 3-D TV and LG Ultra PC Gram at half the market price ― 550,000 won ($510) and 970,000 won, respectively.

“We have prepared many benefits for customers to offer them better Internet and TV services this spring,” said Kang Kuk-hyun, head of KT’s marketing and strategy division.

KT also said it had stepped up convenience for users subscribing to “broadband unlimited payment,” which costs 60,000 won a month. Apart from the free 15 gigabytes of Internet data, they can additionally access unlimited voice calls with one other person based on a couple call plan.

KT said customers in their 20s and 30s would benefit from this service, saying that those using this particular call plan account for more than 60 percent of the service users.

The number of service subscribers reached 100,000 in just one month, KT said.

Even during KT’s business suspension, users can still change their smartphones if they have been using the same phone for more than two years. Should their handsets be out of order, they would also be allowed to replace them.

“We are training our employees at all of our facilities including Olleh Plazas, handset stores and customer service centers to provide better convenience for customers ahead of the business suspension,” a KT spokesperson said.
