충격! 뉴욕 한복판 도로에서 아이 출산

한 임산부가 아이를 낳기위해 병원으로 가던 도중 아이가 나오려고해 뉴욕시 한복판에서 행인들의 도움으로 무시히 아기를 출산하였다고 뉴욕포스트등 외신들이 이날 보도했다.

이 보도에 따르면 맨해턴에 사는 임신부인 39세 폴리 맥코트는 진통이 오자 4시쯤 집을 나와 병원에 가기위해 택시를 잡으려는데 아기가 나올것 같아 주변의 도움을 요청하였고 마침 지나가던 의사가 소동을 목격하고 폴리 곁을 지켰다.

주변의 대략 50명의 행인들도 그녀가 출산할 수 있도록 붙잡고 코트로 몸을 가려 주었다.

몇 분후 응급차가 도착했지만 아기는 이미 세상 밖으로 나온 뒤였다. 목격자들은 모든 일이 5분도 채 안되는 시간에 벌어졌다고 놀라움을 표했다.

폴리의 남편 시안(40)은 "아내는 매우 침착하게 대처했고 매우 강인한 여성"이라고 말했다.

부부는 이미 슬하에 자녀 2명을 두고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.

Woman gives birth to baby in middle of crosswalk in NY

A pregnant woman heading to the hospital collapsed on an Upper East Side street — then gave birth smack in the middle of a crosswalk, the New York Post reported on Tuesday.

Polly McCourt, 39, went into labor at around 4 p.m. on Monday then tried to hail a taxi to the hospital near her home on East 68th Street and Third Avenue, according to the report. But she could no longer wait and got to the ground.

A young doctor spotted the commotion and rushed to her side as other bystanders propped her up and covered her with coats, the newspaper said.

“It was a crazy experience,” the baby’s father Cian McCorty, 40, told The Post.

“My wife was really calm very together….She’s a strong woman,” he said.

A crowd of roughly 50 onlookers formed and an ambulance arrived in minutes — but not before McCourt gave birth, while laying on the pavement, in less than five minutes, witnesses said, according to the report.
