Hyundai Motor Group vice chairman Chung Eui-sun urged workers at the automotive conglomerate’s production facility in Georgia to redouble their efforts to improve quality, company sources said Wednesday.

Chung, the son and heir-apparent of Hyundai Motor Co. chairman Chung Mong-koo, flew to the U.S. to tour the Montgomery, Georgia plant and production facilities of parts suppliers, a visit that followed sales reports showing the U.S. market share of the company, the automotive group’s flagship brand, had fallen.

“Chung focused on quality during his two-day stay at the plant,” one corporate insider said. He hinted that the future heir to South Korea’s No. 2 business group raised concerns in regards to consumer complaints that forced several vehicle models to be recalled in the past year. (Yonhap)
