세계적인 속옷 브랜드 빅토리아 시크릿은 매년 화려한 패션쇼로 유명하다. 이 패션쇼에 서는 모델들은 ‘엔젤’이라 불리며 전세계 여성의 워너비 스타가 된다. 하지만 무대 밖에서는 일감을 찾으려면 자신의 화보 사진이 든 무거운 작품집을 들고 오디션장을 다니는 게 일반적.

빅토리아 시크릿의 ‘엔젤’인 린지 스캇(29)은 무겁고 금방 손상되는 종이 작품집을 애플리케이션으로 만들자는 생각에 이른다. 스캇이 만든 앱 ‘아이포트(iPort)’는 모델뿐만 아니라 화가, 건축가처럼 자신의 작품을 편리하게 관리하고 싶은 사람을 위한 것이다.

스캇은 미국 매사추세츠주 애머스트 대학에서 컴퓨터공학과와 연극학과를 전공해 프로그램을 제작할 수 있는 것으로 알려졌다. 본인 스스로 ‘컴퓨터 괴짜’라고 말할 정도다. 모델 일이 없을 때는 컴퓨터 프로그램이나 앱 개발을 한다.

부모는 스캇이 컴퓨터 전문가가 되길 바랐지만, 스캇이 모델 일에 관심이 많아 결국 전문모델로 활동하게 됐다.

스캇이 개발한 아이포트 앱은 아이튠즈 스토어에서 4.99달러에 구매할 수 있다.

Victoria’s Secret model develops portfolio app

Victoria’s Secret model Lyndsey Scott has developed a mobile application that enables models to upload and manage their virtual portfolios, the U.S. media reported on Friday.

The 29-year-old model, who walks the runway for famous fashion brands such as Prada, Gucci and Louis Vuitton, designed the app called “iPort” for fashion models and other artists to create and share portfolios via their mobile devices.

“I built that app because it was something I personally needed,” she said. “My book always ends up looking terrible, the books fall apart, the pages are tearing, it’s dirty, and it’s a mess,” she adds.

According to business magazine Fast Company, the app’s interface includes customizable backgrounds and photo editing features.

The self-proclaimed “nerd” attended Amherst College in Massachusetts, graduating in 2006 with a double-degree in theater and computer science.
