최초 무인자동차 곧 출시

전세계 최초로 상용화될 무인자동차는 골프카트가 될 것이라고 IT 전문매체 매셔블 등 외신이 6일(현지시각) 전했다.

7일부터 열리고 있는 세계 최대 전자쇼 CES에서 공개된 무인자동차 나비아(Navia)는 무선 충전이 가능한 전기차다. 최대 탑승 인원은 8명. 최대 시속 20km로 일반 승용차에 훨씬 못 미치지만 골프장 등 제한된 공간에서 활용될 것으로 보인다.

스마트폰으로 나비아를 호출하면 알아서 이동하고 차량에 타면 내부 터치스크린으로 원하는 위치를 설정한다. 나비아는 차량 내외부에 설치된 여러 대의 카메라로 위치를 파악해 스스로 운전을 시작한다.

2012년 세계 최대 IT 기업 구글이 무인차 주행 시험을 시작하며 무인자동차가 주목받기 시작했다. 이번에 열린 CES에서도 자동차 기업이 앞다투어 무인자동차를 선보였다.

나비아는 현재 안전 검사를 앞두고 있으며 25만 달러(한화 약 2억6000만원)에 시판될 예정이다.

World’s first commercially available self-driving car launches

French-based startup Induct showcased an eight-person self-driving vehicle named Navia on 6 at CES 2014, a global consumer electronics and consumer technology trade show in Las Vegas, Mashable reported.

Navia has several gadgets like lasers, sensors and various camera viewpoints that can sense route obstacles. Powered by a 10-kilowatt-hour lithium phosphate battery that can be charged wirelessly, the car tops out at 12.5 miles per hour. The car will most likely be used at public places such as airports, college campuses or sports arenas rather than for household use. Navia costs about $250,000.

Navia can be ordered through a smartphone to arrive at a destination, and also features a touchscreen to input the destination location.

The self-driving car market started to draw spotlight in 2012 when Google started road-testing its driverless car. At CES 2014, several automobile companies show off their self-driving functioned cars.
