조지 W. 부시 미국 전 대통령(89)은 트위터 가입 후 단 한 번의 트윗으로 5만 명의 팔로워가 생겼다.
“바바라와 난 오늘 만델라 대통령을 추모하는 미국 대표단에 참여하고 싶었지만 못했습니다. 그와 국민들의 축복을 빕니다,” 라고 화요일 @GeorgeHWBush 트위터 계정에 게시했다.
그의 트위터 계정에는 “미국 41대 대통령”이라고 쓰여있으며 활짝 웃고 있는 그의 흑백 사진이 올라와있다. 부시와 그의 아내 바바라는 화요일 남아프리카에서 열린 넬슨 만델라 추모식에 오바마 대통령의 초대를 받았지만 그의 대변인은 그가 더 이상 장거리 여행을 하지 못하기 때문에 그 제안을 거절했다고 밝혔다.

Bush senior gains 50,000 followers with a single tweet
Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush has attracted 50,000 followers after his first tweet Wednesday.
“Barbara and I wish we could have joined the U.S. delegation honoring President Mandela today. He, and his countrymen, are in our prayers,” @GeorgeHWBush wrote Tuesday.
Bush and his wife were invited by U.S. President Barack Obama to pay tribute to Nelson Mandela in South Africa. But he declined the offer since he is no longer able to travel long distances, according to his spokesmen.
Bush was the 41st President of the United States.
