GD '늴리리야', 미 음악전문지 선정 '올해의 노래 50'

그룹 빅뱅 멤버 지드래곤(25)의 '늴리리야'가 미국 음악 전문지 '콤플렉스'(Complex)가 선정한 '2013년의 노래 50'(The Best Songs of 2013)에 포함됐다.

'콤플렉스'는 2일(현지시간) 온라인을 통해 공개한 관련 기사에서 지드래곤을 '한국 팝의 슈퍼스타'라고 지칭하며 에미넴•카니예 웨스트•제이지 등 정상급 뮤지션과 함께 그를 명단에 올렸다.

이어 "지난 여름 로스앤젤레스에서 수천 명의 환호를 받으며 선보인 미시 엘리엇과의 '문화 충돌적'(Culture-Clashing)인 합동 공연이 매우 좋았다"고 평했다.

'늴리리야'는 동명의 한국 전통 민요를 토대로 여성 힙합 거장 미시 엘리엇의 피처링을 얹은 노래로 지난 9월 발매된 그의 정규 2집 '쿠데타'(COUP D'ETAT)에 수록됐다.

'쿠데타'는 뉴욕타임스, 미국 음악 케이블 채널 퓨즈(FUSE)TV 등 해외 매체로부터도 좋은 평가를 받았다.

G-Dragon’s ‘Niliria’ makes it onto ‘50 Best Song’ list

G-Dragon’s “Niliria” appeared on Complex Magazine’s “50 Best Songs of 2013” list on Thursday alongside other musicians such as Eminem, Kanye West and Jay Z.

The journal ranked the boy band leader of Big Bang 32nd on the list, praising his culture-clashing collaboration with Missy Elliott in front of thousands of screaming fans in Los Angeles last summer.

The song was included on G-Dragon’s second solo album “Coup d’Etat,” and features award-winning rapper Missy Eliott. The track is a mix of traditional and modern sounds, with a melody inspired by Korean folk songs overlaid with Missy Elliott’s rapping.

“I know on the other side of the world they’re always dying to hear something ethnic,” said the producer Teddy in an interview with the music journal. The album “Coup d’Etat” got positive reviews from many foreign media outlets, including the New York Times and the U.S. music cable channel FUSE TV.

The cover art of the album also nabbed 20th place in Complex Magazine’s “50 Best Pop Album Covers of the Past Five Years,” becoming the only album on the list by a Korean artist.
