CLASH is gearing up for its final charity show of the year Saturday, with music from Korean hip-hop artist Deegie and tenor Yong Joon Ho.
CLASH brings together Korean and expat performers in hip-hop, rock and indie to perform charity concerts for different causes.
This event will raise money for Angel House, a shelter for the disabled that is home to 50 people aged from 1 to 70.
“The owner is also a disabled person who set up the house for one of her children, who is disabled,” said Kiki Katsika, one of the event organizers. “And it usually survives by donations and volunteers who go there and cook and clean for the people who live there.”
Rapper and producer Deegie headlines along with tenor Yong Hoon Joo. They are joined by DJ IT, who was the exclusive DJ for Trabler and DJ DOC, and who has worked with top Korean performers including Psy, Rain, Big Bang and Mighty Mouth.
“Deegie made it big around the early 2000s in Korea and a lot of people call him the grandfather of the diss battle,” said Katsika.
Korean trio Black Tree and violinist Lux Luther will provide more hip-hop entertainment.
Rock music will come from New Blue Death, which performed at this year’s Pentaport Rock Festival, and street punk band Chanter’s Alley.
TV personalities Jesse Day and Bronwyn Mullen will host the event, which is sponsored by Korean International Institute of the Arts.
There will also be a raffle with prizes including camping equipment, cosmetics and vouchers for hotels and cafes.
The event starts 8 p.m. at Freebird in Hongdae, Seoul. Entry is 10,000 won, and can be paid for at the door or on Interpark.
