Jun Kwang-woo, a professor at Yonsei University Graduate School of Economics, received an international alumni award from Indiana University Bloomington on Sunday.
The university recently created the Distinguished International Alumni Award to honor outstanding lifetime achievements by international alumni.
Jun is the inaugural recipient of the award.
It was given to him in recognition of his long record of leadership in both public and private sectors. His previous positions include chairman and chief executive officer of the National Pension Service, the founding chairman of the Financial Services Commission, Korea’s Ambassador for International Finance and board chairman of POSCO.
The university has 580,000 living alumni, the third most in the United States, with more than 36,000 international alumni and some 2,000 alumni in Korea.
The award was presented to Jun in person by the university’s provost, Lauren Robel, at the annual alumni banquet in Seoul.
