지드래곤, '스타일 아이콘' 대상 수상

그룹 빅뱅의 지드래곤(25)이 지난 24일 밤 마포구 상암동에서 열린 '2013 스타일 아이콘 어워즈(Style Icon Awards•SIA)'에서 대상에 해당하는 '스타일 아이콘 오브 더 이어'를 받았다.

CJ E&M은 25일 "지드래곤은 음악적 천재성은 물론 화려한 퍼포먼스와 카리스마로 최고의 뮤지션으로 평가받는다"며 "유니크한 패션 감각과 라이프스타일로 젊은이 들이 가장 닮은 아이콘으로 손꼽힌다"며 선정 배경을 전했다.

지드래곤은 "개인적으로 '스타일 아이콘'이라는 말을 좋아하는데 이렇게 상까지 받게 돼 기분이 남다르다"고 소감을 밝혔다.

'2013 SIA'는 방송•가요•패션•예술 등 문화 전반에 걸쳐 대중을 사로잡고 라이프스타일을 변화시킨 인물을 선정하는 시상식.

올해 행사에서는 지드래곤을 비롯해 배우 공효진•여진구•이종석•이서진•정우성, 힙합듀오 다이나믹듀오, 방송인 신동엽, 걸그룹 씨스타 등 스타 10팀이 본상을 받았다.

이 밖에도 ▲스타일 스페셜리스트상 디자이너 정욱준 ▲뉴아이콘상 걸그룹 크레 용팝 ▲베스트 K-스타일상 소녀시대 수영, 배우 최진혁 ▲글로벌아이콘상 에이셉 록 키(A$AP Rocky) ▲쉐보레-파인드 뉴스타상 탤런트 클라라 ▲콘텐츠 오브 더 이어상 나영석 PD 등이 선정됐다.

G-Dragon named ‘Style Icon of the Year’

K-pop giant G-Dragon won the grand prize at the 6th 2013 Style Icon Awards in Seoul on Thursday.

Known for his charismatic performances and songwriting, the leader of boy band “Big Bang” has been among the so-called best dressers in the pop scene for years. He recently bleached his hair platinum for his music video for “Coup D’etat,” which topped music charts at home and abroad. The singer was named the “Style Icon of the Year” at the awards ceremony held in Sangam-dong and broadcasted in 11 countries around the globe.

“There are so many fashionable people in Korea, so I don’t know if I should accept this award. But I do love that word, ‘style icon,’” the singer said at the ceremony.

G-Dragon and the rest of Big Bang are next scheduled to hold a total of 15 concerts around six cities in Japan, starting in Seibu Dome on Nov. 16-17.
