This year’s winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry will come to Korea later this month, a Korea University official said on Monday.

Professor Ariel Warshel of the University of Southern California is set to attend a forum, titled “Molecular Frontiers Symposium 2013,” in Seoul where he will give a lecture on Oct. 29.

“High school students, Korea University students and professors will participate in the conference,” one school official said, adding that 1,000 people are expected to attend.

Warshel won the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry on Oct. 9 along with Michael Levitt and Martin Karplus for laying the foundation of computer use in chemistry research.

“Computer models mirroring real life have become crucial for most advances made in chemistry today,” said The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in a press release.
