Asiana Airlines said Wednesday it had established new friendship ties with a Chinese elementary school as part of its global social responsibility project that aims to support children in China’s suburban areas.

The airline, in partnership with Korea International Cooperation Agency, held a ceremony on Wednesday at Luxing Elementary School in Shenzhen City, Guangdong province.

Asiana donated 50 desktop computers, 20 electric pianos and some 1,000 books to improve the educational environment, while flight attendants organized special classes for the students there.

The company started the project in March last year in Chinese cities where it operates flights and the latest is the 12th of its kind.

“For mutual growth of Shenzhen City and Asiana, we wanted to join efforts to support children,” said Asiana CEO Yoon Young-doo during the event.
