Swansea City’s accepted bid for Ki Sung-yueng and the reported transfer fee could make the midfielder the most expensive Korean player ever to play in the English Premier League.
The Celtic midfielder is set to move to the Welsh club after chairman Huw Jenkins confirmed that his club has agreed on a fee for the 23-year-old.
It is reported that the South Wales club will pay around 6 million British pounds ($9.5 million).
Before the bid for Ki, Park Ji-sung boasted the highest transfer fee for a Korean player, 5 million pounds, for his move from Manchester United to Queens Park Rangers.
Arsenal’s Park Chu-young is reported to have called for an 8.8 billion won ($7.7 million) transfer fee from AS Monaco.
Ki could also possibly be the most expensive move for Swansea City as well, as striker Danny Graham’s 3.5 million pound transfer fee is reported to be the highest ever paid by Swansea.
