LG Electronics said it rolled out an upgraded and square-shaped automated robotic vacuum cleaner called Roboking Dual Eye 2.0 on Sunday.

The firm also said it aims to reach more than 50 billion won ($43.75 million) in robotic cleaner sales this year, a 40 percent rise from the 40 billion won the unit recorded in sales last year.

Claimed to be the first square-shaped robotic vacuum cleaner in the industry, its latest model has increased its efficiency ― to 94 percent from 84 percent in 2011 ― in cleaning corners within the homes, according to LG officials.

“The biggest problem with the smart robotic cleaners was that it wasn’t able to efficiently clean up the corners,” said the firm’s home appliances division executive Kwon Taek-ryul. “The new square-shaped automated cleaner is innovative enough to show a new standard for the market.”

It also is capable of remembering its cleaning route and carpet vacuuming and is equipped with three sensors, its officials said.

The new Roboking has lowered its noise level to 48 decibels for the users to clean at night and while they are watching television or on the phone, said LG officials. The cleaner is priced at 799,000 won.
