The Korea-Arab Society held its fifth annual Arab Cultural Festival on Tuesday, coinciding with Korea and Morocco’s 50 years of diplomatic ties.

The festival featured performances by the Moroccan Orchestra Chabab Al Andalous offering Korean people a chance to experience Moroccan Andalusian music.

Kim Sung-hwan, minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade applauded the festival for “deepening mutual understanding,” and “strengthening the ties of friendship between Koreans and Arabs.”

Moroccan Ambassador Mohammed Chraibi echoed Kim’s remarks calling the festival “an opportunity to explore and learn about the rich cultural heritage of Morocco.”

The festival started in conjunction with the establishment of the Korea-Arab Society in 2008. The festival provides a chance for Koreans to experience Arabian culture.
