Samjong KPMG said its vice chairman Kang Sung-won was elected as the 41st president of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The KICPA elected the new head during a general meeting on Tuesday.

Shortly after being elected, Kang, 64, declared that “the KICPA will focus on creating jobs, improving revenue, and developing the accounting industry as a whole.”

Stressing that he will work to execute a more efficient budget, Kang added that “KICPA will work to improve the status and quality of life of certified public accountants.”

After graduating from Seoul National University’s School of Business and passing a civil service exam, Kang served as chief of the regional branch of the National Tax Service in Sokcho. He had also served as the head of Samjong Accounting Corp., a division of Samjong KPMG, one of the nation’s leading accounting firms.
