Woman admits to racist rant on subway

A woman captured on video making racist accusations against passengers on the subway in Britain has pled guilty in court for the insults.

Jacqueline Woodhouse, a 42-year-old secretary, was reportedly on her way home in January after a retirement party and had consumed an “unknown” amount of champagne, the Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard Tuesday.

She lashed out at passengers around her including Galbant Juttla, a man from Ilford, Essex, who filmed the whole scene.

Woodhouse is heard saying in the seven-minute clip, “I would like to know if any of you are illegal? I am sure like 30 percent of you are.”

“It’s not your country anyway so what’s your problem?” she is also heard yelling. “It’s been overtaken by people like you.”

The video spread throughout the Internet, sparking outrage.

Woodhouse pled guilty to one count of causing racially aggravated “harassment, alarm or distress” by using “threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior.”

She will be sentenced at the same court on May 29.

지하철 막말녀, 인종차별 발언 화제

지하철에서 인종차별적 욕설을 하며 소동을 벌였던 여성이 지난 화요일 웨스트민스터 치안법원에 소환돼 첫 심문을 받았다.

현재 비서로 일하고 있는 재클린 우드하우스(Jacqueline Woodhouse)씨는 지난 1월 저녁 11시 께 지인의 은퇴기념파티에서 귀가하다가 지하철에서 함께 탑승한 승객들에게 인종차별적 비난을 쏟아내 그 장면이 영상을 통해 알려지게 되었다.

그는 세금에 대한 이야기를 언급하며 “합법적으로 체류중이냐”, “당신네 나라도 아닌데 당신네들이 나라를 점령하고 있다”는 등의 말을 했다.

한편 자신의 핸드폰으로 동영상을 찍은 갈반트 주트라(Galbant Juttla)씨는 “이처럼 말도 되지 않는 일을 다른 사람들도 겪지 않도록 본보기가 되어야 한다고 생각한다”며 인터넷에 동영상을 올린 이유를 설명했다. “이렇게 하지 않으면 그를 다시 찾아낼 수 없을 것 같았다.”

우드하우스 씨는 모욕적이고 폭력적인 말과 태도를 취하여 불안과 공포를 조성한 혐의를 인정했다.

공식적인 판결은 29일 밝혀질 예정이다.
