YEOSU, South Jeolla Province ― With the media chandelier presenting the world’s first kinetic multimedia art piece in its exhibition hall, LG is gearing up to meet visitors for the upcoming Expo 2012.

LG Group on Friday showcased its four-story building to reporters in the southern coastal city, that features a media chandelier composed of 54 47-inch display panels which presents dynamic artwork accompanied by sound and its soon-to-be-unveiled 55-inch OLED TVs.

With the theme “Life is Green,” the corporate hall, built on 1,960 square meters of land, also presents the concepts of its environmentally-friendly products such as super solar batteries, portable washing machines and make-up pens.

Before stepping inside the building, visitors will immediately run into a water display screen, which is 4.2 meters long and 32.6 meters wide.

It also features an interactive nature exhibition hall where everything you see is green ― trees, plants and even chairs that are covered with green grass.

On the rooftop is another water garden where children can take a break from the sun by playing in the water and their parents can take in the sea surrounding the building.

Solar energy panels are also seen on the roof, demonstrating the conglomerate’s effort to lead the green energy drive.

“The LG building was constructed to be environmentally-friendly, because it was made with reusable paper, recyclables and it further plans to donate the exhibition products to the regional community,” said an LG official.

The LG media day event took place as the newly-built facilities were getting ready to meet visitors for the Expo 2012 Yeosu, which will have a three-month run from May 12-Aug. 12.

In a related effort, LG Group is on a drive to have its new green projects, including energy, subparts for electricity vehicles and living eco projects, take up 15 percent of its total sales by 2020.

The group has doubled its sales figures in green projects between 2010 and 2011, andaims to reach 4 trillion won in that area this year, up 1 trillion won from last year.

It also plans to make green projects one of its major fields in 2015, while setting its sales goal at more than 10 trillion won in the same year, its company officials said.
