New Seoul Arts Center President Mo Cheol-min (Culture Ministry)
Culture Minister Choe Kwang-shik named former Vice Culture Minister Mo Cheol-min as the new president of the state-run Seoul Arts Center on Friday, officials said.
Mo, now professor emeritus at the Business School of Donga University in Busan, is replacing outgoing president Kim Jang-sil, also a former vice culture minister, who became a Saenuri Party proportional representative last week.
The term of the SAC president is three years.
“With his experience in cultural exchanges and administration, (the ministry) expects Mo to lead the Seoul Arts Center to become a world-class arts complex in the future,” the ministry said in a press release.
The new SAC president served as a vice culture minister from August 2010 to November 2011 and also as the director of the National Library of Korea between May 2009 to August 2010. Mo received a medal from the French government in 2007 for his contribution in promoting cultural exchange between the two countries. He led the Korean Culture Center in Paris from 2004 to 2007.
