Roger Shepherd, founder of HikeKorea.com, will be exhibiting photos taken while he hiked the Baekdu-Daegan range in both South and North Korea from this week.
Shepherd is the co-author of “Baekdu Daegan Trail: Hiking Korea’s Mountain Spine,” published in 2010, and has been documenting the range for six years.
He took a major step toward the goal of documenting the entire peninsula-spanning range when he visited the North’s portion of the range in late October-early November.
This exhibit, lasting until Feb. 22, will display 70 images that Shepherd has captured on both sides of the DMZ. Twenty-five of these images will later travel to Shepherd’s native New Zealand for an exhibit there.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Korea Forest Service and starts Friday at 3 p.m. at the Gyeongbokgung Station Gallery in Seoul. Admission is free. Gyeongbokgung Station is on Line 3.
