Hur Kwang-soo, chairman of Samyang International Co., has become the new president of the Korea Golf Association.

The KGA board on Monday unanimously approved Hur as the new head of the golf governing body.

Hur, 66, had served as a vice president of the KGA from 2004.

He is also an acting member of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, one of the most prestigious golf clubs, and has served as a president of Asia Pacific Golf Confederation since 2003.

“Korea is now at the core of world golf, so I feel a great responsibility. I will use all my knowledge and experience to prepare properly for the 2015 President Cup in Korea and other international events,” Hur said in his acceptance speech.
