LONDON (AFP) -- French President Nicolas Sarkozy launched a scathing attack on British Prime Minister David Cameron at Sunday's EU summit, saying he was "sick of him telling us what to do," Britain's press reported.

During talks in Brussels to resolve the eurozone debt crisis, the French leader accused Cameron of "interfering in our meetings", British newspapers The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph reported, citing diplomatic sources.
"We're sick of you criticizing us and telling us what to do," Sarkozy reportedly told Cameron.
"You say you hate the euro, you didn't want to join and now you want to interfere in our meetings," he added.
Another newspaper, The Times, also reported that a row had erupted, but did not give exact details.
Tempers frayed over Sarkozy's insistence that only the 17 members of the eurozone attend a bank rescue summit meeting hastily arranged for Wednesday, according to the Telegraph.
Cameron convinced those at the meeting that all 27 EU members should be invited, and British newspapers reported on Monday that Cameron had cancelled his planned trips to New Zealand and Japan in order to attend.
Cameron earlier warned that countries outside the eurozone risked being frozen out amid efforts for a pooled response to the crisis crippling the 17-nation single currency bloc.
"What you've got happening in Europe at the moment is eurozone countries coming together recognizing that they've got to do more things together and frankly it's in Britain's interest that they do sort out the problems they've got," said Cameron after the summit.
"But there is a danger ... that as this eurozone coming together happens, there is a risk that those countries outside the euro ... might see the eurozone members starting to take decisions that affect the single market."
Cameron is under pressure at home as eurosceptic backbenchers within his own Conservative party look set to defy him in Monday's vote on an EU membership referendum.

영국 일간 가디언과 텔레그래프 등에 따르면 이날 정상회의 오찬장에서 사르코지 대통령이 캐머런 총리에게 "당신은 유로화를 싫어하고 유로존(유로화 사용국)에 가입하려 하지도 않으면서 우리 모임에 간섭하려 한다"고 따졌다.
사르코지 대통령은 나아가 "당신이 우리(유로존 회원국)를 비판하고 이래라저래라 하는 것에 진절머리가 난다"고 직격탄을 퍼부었다고 언론들이 외교 소식통을 인용해 보도했다.
일간 더 타임스도 양국 정상 사이에 말다툼이 벌어졌다고 전했으나 언쟁의 구체 적인 내용은 언급하지 않았다.
사르코지 대통령이 캐머런 총리를 공격한 직접적인 이유는 오는 26일 예정된 유로존 17개국 정상회의에 영국도 참석하겠다고 고집했기 때문이다.
캐머런 총리는 26일 정상회의에 유로화를 사용하지 않는 나머지 10개 EU 회원국 도 참여해야 한다고 주장했고 사르코지 대통령은 회의에 참여하려면 영국도 유로화를 채택하라고 반박하면서 언쟁의 수위가 높아졌다고 소식통들이 전했다.
캐머런 총리는 23일 정상회의가 끝난 뒤 기자들에게 "유로존에 가입하지 않은 회원국의 이익도 지켜줘야 한다. 특히 27개 EU 회원국 사이의 '단일시장' 통합의 관 점에서 더더욱 그러하다"고 강조했다.
양국 정상이 첨예하게 대립함에 따라 오는 26일에는 유로존 정상회의 직전에 27 개국 정상들이 모두 참석하는 EU 정상회의를 개최해 유로존 정상회의에서 다뤄질 사 안을 협의하자는 타협이 이뤄졌다.
헤르만 반롬푀이 EU 정상회의 상임의장은 "유로존 회원국과 비(非) 유로존 회원 국 간 관계의 민감성을 잘 이해한다"며 "가능하다면 유로존 정상회의가 열릴 때마다 양측(유로존과 비유로존)이 서로 의견을 주고받을 수 있도록 하겠다"고 말했다.
