Chung Ji-yi, executive vice president of Hyundai U&I and eldest daughter of Hyundai Group chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun, is to be wed next month, industry sources said.
Chung’s groom-to-be is employed at a foreign financial company in Japan and reportedly has no ties with the conglomerate community here.

The wedding will take place at Hotel Shilla in downtown Seoul on Sept. 3. It will be a private ceremony involving only relatives and a few close friends, sources close to Hyundai Group said.
Chung’s father is the late Chung Mong-hun who was the son of industrial tycoon Chung Ju-yung and previous chairman of Hyundai Group.
The 34-year-old joined Hyundai Merchant Marine’s finances department in 2004 as an entry level employee, but was given several quick promotions in just two years’ time as the chairwoman sought to give Chung the necessary training for managing a company.
In 2006, she was promoted to her current position as executive vice president of Hyundai Ubiquitous & Information Technology Co., one of Hyundai Group’s IT affiliates.
Chung is said to be chairwoman Hyun’s right-hand woman, having accompanied her mother on trips to North Korea involving the tourism projects Hyundai had pursued with Pyongyang.
