A strange-looking feline with irregular fur has turned into a loveable celebrity at a veterinary hospital in New England of U.S., reported AOL News on Thursday.

Nicknamed “Ugly Bat Boy” or “Ugs” by the hospital staff, it was previously owned by a client of the hospital nine years ago, according to Exeter Veterinary Hospital owner Dr. Stephen Bassett.

After efforts to find the pet’s identity by conducting tests including DNA and a cheek swab, it was concluded that Ugs was the result of a genetic mutation. Moreover, they believe that Ugs’ physical attributes have been handed down by descendants in the area with the same type of biological mutation.

Of five cats residing in the hospital, three of them belong to the hospital and Ugs is wielding his power as the boss. Just as the cat enjoys attention from the locals due to its unusual appearance, it likes to be photographed and is friendly to strangers.
