A 78-year-old man was arrested for regularly threatening his girlfriend for refusing to meet him, according to the police on Monday.

Jeonju Deokjin Police Station said the man allegedly opened the front door of his 51-year-old girlfriend’s house by using tools, and threatened her with the tools while she was sleeping on the second floor of the residence in North Jeolla Province on May 6.

The girlfriend escaped through the window and fell, injuring her head and waist.


Investigations revealed that the couple had lived together for a long time and the man committed the crime when he found out the woman was seeing another man.

The man was arrested after a neighbor called the police. However, even after his arrest, he allegedly continued to text the woman in a threatening manner.

Police have sought an arrest warrant for the suspect. “We are investigating the details since it seems like he has continued to threaten her,” said police.
